Garbage & Recycling

Garbage/Recycling should be placed at the curb by 6 am of pickup day.  For the schedule of service, see below:

Trash Requirements

  • Weight under 30 pounds
  • Containers should have handles and be no bigger than 32 gallons
  • Only residential garbage
  • Place at the curb
  • Use clear or white bags no bigger than 32 gallons
  • Shredded paper should be bagged as garbage, it can NOT be recycled
  • No hazardous materials, liquids, or flammable materials allowed
  • No ashes, lithium batteries, fluorescent bulbs, tools, yard waste

 

Recyclable Requirements

  • Do not mix with garbage
  • Place at the curb
  • Cardboard MUST be flattened and placed in bundles of 12”x24”x36”
  • Please use paper sacks or bundle paper
  • Items should be loose in container, not tied in a bag
  • Weight under 30 pounds
  • Plastic bags can NOT be recycled through the weekly pick up and must be put in household trash (some businesses have a recycling bin for plastic bags)

For any other recycling questions or FREE large item scheduled pick-ups, please contact Waste Management at 1-888-960-0008, customer id# 20-20381-02375.  Examples of large items are mattresses and furniture.  When calling to schedule a pickup, WM will let you know if allowed.  They do not pick up electronics, building materials, nor white goods.

Residents can take leaves, lawn clippings, and sticks to the recycling center located behind the Black River Sportsmen Club located at 201 Division Street.  Those items can't be burned in the Village.  Storm damage branches will generally be picked up every other Thursday.
